Ohio Stingrays Organization
The Stingray organization was founded in 1984 in Ohio by Bill Fish and Norm Chambers. After years of competing solely as an 18U Gold Team, Tim Kazimer and Tunney King expanded the organization to include elite level teams at all age groups. Kazimer later went on to coach a Kentucky Stingray team for one year, and former administrator Mark Tamanini founded the Central Florida Stingrays in 2006. Since the organization’s founding 25 years ago, the Stingrays have been based on the principle that doing things the right way leads to incredible results on and off the field. The coaching staff practices high-positive coaching techniques while expecting maximum effort and focus from players at all softball related activities. Another founding principle of the Stingrays is that academic excellence is expected of each athlete and that with all of the time, energy, and money spent on the success of these 11-12 young ladies, community involvement is an invaluable tool in molding well-rounded young ladies.
Matt Tamanini, a former Ohio Stingray coach has now formed yet another Stingray offspring, the Georgia Stingrays. This is a new 16U fastpitch softball team which will begin competing after the 2009 Georgia High School season. The Stingrays will be coached by Matt and Angie Beal.
